WEBCAST TRANSCRIPTON SERVICES Webcasts tend to be live but can be delayed broadcasts and are usually less 'concise' and less edited than a podcast. Typically adopted by news companies, television or radio programmes, webcasting is also used for broadcasting conferences and live debates, as well as in the commercial sector for presentations such as AGMs, or in e-learning teaching situations where lessons and seminars can be transmitted. Various terms have sprung up to describe webcasts of various forms, such as webisodes, vlogs, webinars (a butchering of the English language that seems here to stay!). So why do you need webcast transcription services if you have the recording? The contents of audio and video recordings on the Internet are not readily searchable and and, therefore, indexed by the search engines which renders your webcast almost invisible. We can provide a transcript of excerpts or a full transcript which can be uploaded alongside the recording. The transcript will then show up in the search engine results just like any other document or website, as well as be available to a more disadvantaged audience. This is particularly pertinent now, since the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and the Communications Act 2003 encourages the provision of full accessible content for all broadcasts. The sound files can help the visually impaired while subtitles or a full transcript alongside the video can be very helpful to those with impaired hearing. Also, some people prefer to read content because it's quicker than trying to listen to an entire audio file. We pride ourselves on providing thorough, accurate webcast transcriptions with meticulous attention to detail while maintaining a professional and cost effective transcription service. We also offer time-stamped transcripts where required. We are pleased to provide a fixed per audio minute price, so you know in advance what your overall costs will be. We hope our Testimonials page demonstrates the quality of our service. We have extensive project management experience for large scale projects and a flexible approach to urgent deadlines. We are pleased to offer charities, students and universities a discounted webcast transcription service. We
hope our Guidelines and Equipment
pages will answer any specific queries you may have about setting up
your recordings and our
review of the different digital file
types
may be of interest.
ALL RECORDINGS are listened to a second time, Internet research is carried out to identify names or terminology, and all transcripts are proofread by the Director, Irene Boston, before being sent to clients. There is no extra charge for this service. Not all transcription companies do this, some don't even proofread, so make sure you ask the right questions before choosing a service. For any large scale webcast transcriptions, we would recommend you provide as much advance notice of your requirements as possible to reserve space in our schedule. Most established transcription companies have a long list of regular customers and to suddenly find a block of free space for a large project can be difficult. So book your transcription company in advance, the same way you would an event venue or interview schedule. Our default transcript style is Intelligent Verbatim which is the most cost effective method of transcription. Please read our definitions of the types of transcript we offer to choose which format is most suitable. We use a standard format and layout for all transcripts but should you wish something different, please let us know. As with all our transcriptions, we provide a transcript code for each document to signify areas which are inaudible or unclear. We can download your webcast either direct or the recording can be uploaded via our system. We provide a free File Upload secure FTP service for all digital recordings via our website to ensure prompt delivery to our transcription team. Alternatively, some radio and TV programme webcasts can be downloaded after the event for a limited period of time and we are happy to do that for you. We hope this provides you with a thorough overview of our webcast transcription services. Please email or contact us on 01485 543746 for a detailed quote and turnaround times based on our current schedule, or browse our Overview or FAQ pages. |
